Originality is such a sought-after quality, especially in the arts. In practice, though, all music (at least) is based on music which already exists. In that sense, there is nothing original in a new piece of music, and that is explicitly so in these tracks. The difference to creativity is instructive: to be successfully creative is to bring about the unforeseen, but foreseeable (to move the chairs into an utterly new arrangement – but they're still just chairs); to be successfully original is to bring about the unforeseeable (to evade the iceberg altogether). You may transpose the labels 'creative' and 'original' – some people do – but what matters is not the identity of the label, but the qualitative difference between two levels of 'bringing about'.

But, while the musical material is always 'pre-loved', the task is to find something different to do with it (that new arrangement of the chairs). And, unless one is literally copying, or stealing, every such attempt is unique. And of course it is the same with us – we are all the same, and yet we are all unique. Seeking to be different causes such misery.
